About the Program: Opened in 1986, La Paz offers an alternative for people who might otherwise be in state hospitals or acute care facilities. Treatment at La Paz is based on the philosophy that all individuals have the potential to improve their level of functioning and make choices that impact their quality of life. The goal of La Paz is to reduce the symptoms of severe mental illness; provide safe, effective medical and psychiatric treatment to all residents; and allow individuals more choice and involvement in their treatment. As with all Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ programs, treatment at La Paz is based on the philosophy that regardless of age or degree of impairment, all individuals have the potential to improve their functioning and to make choices about their environments for living, learning, working, and socializing.
