To Make Referrals: Referrals come from the Kern Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Psychiatric Evaluation Center/Crisis Stabilization Unit (Kern BHRS PEC/CSU) or the Ridgecrest Crisis Stabilization Unit (Ridgecrest CSU). We are not able to accept walk-ins.

Who We Serve: We serve individuals aged 18 and older who reside in Kern County and need therapeutic/inpatient psychiatric services and may be admitted voluntarily or involuntarily, pursuant to Welfare & Institutions Code 5250 et seq. ​
All individuals will have a medical screening performed by PHF staff to determine if they are medically stable to be admitted. Individuals must be able to take medications and fluids orally, walk without assistance, and have a resting pulse below 100/minute. The following guidelines warrant an evaluation by emergency department personnel for clearance:
Suspected or reported overdose
Over age 64
Chest pain or difficulty breathing
Exhibiting signs of drug or alcohol impairment
Hours of Operation: Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week
About the Program: At the Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ Kern Adult PHF, we provide intensive mental health and psychiatric treatment services in a safe, welcoming environment for adults experiencing a mental health emergency.
We believe recovery starts from within and that our job is to do whatever it takes to provide the support needed on your recovery journey in a comfortable, structured environment. Our secure 16-bed facility has a multidisciplinary team that includes a psychiatrist, social workers, a rehabilitation therapist, registered nurses, recovery specialists, and peer support specialists.
Our services emphasize choice-making skills and harm-reduction techniques. We provide a safe, respectful environment where you can receive immediate, individualized assistance and a compassionate presence to stabilize symptoms, avoid the need for higher levels of care, and receive appropriate referrals to community-based resources.
